Grieving Ypsilanti family struggles with travel insurance company after son’s death

“We don’t want have to focus on this, it’s very trivial”

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A family in mourning was stuck battling a travel insurance company.

Caleb Post’s parents were planning a dream trip to Disney, but when Caleb’s health took a dramatic turn for the worse they had to cancel -- and they’ve been battling with the insurance company since.

Lisa and Chris are grieving. Their son Caleb died Jan. 25 after a long battle with brain cancer.

The family had planned a trip to Disney, hoping to enjoy family time with their son, who had been doing remarkably well, but the day they were scheduled to leave, they faced a medical emergency.

He died in the family’s Ypsilanti home during the time they were supposed to be at Disney. The nearly $10,000 trip was protected with travel insurance -- or so they thought. Despite having all the necessary documents sent to the travel insurance company, weeks passed with no news. No communication.

The family reached out to Help Me Hank and within days, they received a voicemail from the insurance company, who will now pay out the claim.

While we’re heartbroken for Caleb’s family, we’re thankful they no longer need to waste time and energy battling an insurance company.
