Nearly 7,000 smoke detectors sold by a company through Amazon are being recalled for failing to work properly.

Smoke detectors sold as "CHZHVAN Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors” were recalled on May 16 because the detectors can “fail to activate,” according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. These products were sold online on Amazon between August 2023 and January 2024.

The model number for the recalled detectors is JKD-512. The products are sold by the Chinese company Haikouhuidishangmaoyouxiangongsi, which is not being cooperative with the recall, the CPSC reports.

Anyone who purchased the product is urged to throw it away. The company does not appear to be offering any options for returns or refunds.

Officials say at least five reports were made of the detectors “failing to alarm in the presence of smoke,” the CPSC said. There were no reports of injuries related to the recall as of May 24.

Photos of the recalled product can be found above and below.
