A new WDIV/Detroit News survey shows where Michigan voters stand on the race for president between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The WDIV/Detroit News survey was conducted between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4, 2024.
Trump-Harris race for president
The WDIV/Detroit News survey found that Harris has overtaken Trump and now leads by 2.6% in Michigan.
Trump held a 1.2% lead at the time of our last survey in late August.
Harris leads 46.8%-44.2% among likely voters. 4.7% of voters continue to back Kennedy. 3.2% of voters choose another third- party option. Only 0.7% of voters remain undecided. Here’s the breakdown:

The lead is similar when you look at the 91% of voters who say they are definite voters. Among definite voters, Harris holds a 2.2% lead over Trump.

Favorability
Donald Trump is viewed favorably by 42.1% of voters and unfavorably by 54.6% of voters. His unfavorable percentage rose 3.5% since August. Notably, among independent voters, 31.3% view him favorably, while 58.6% view him unfavorably.
Kamala Harris is viewed favorably by 46.9% of voters and unfavorably by 49.3% of voters. Her favorable percentage rose 3.6% since August, and her unfavorable percentage dropped by 0.4%.

Poll methodology
The Glengariff Group, Inc. conducted a Michigan statewide survey of November 2024 likely general election voters. The 600 sample, live operator telephone survey was conducted on Oct. 1-4, 2024 and has a margin of error of +/-4.0% with a 95% level of confidence. 14.3% of respondents were contacted via landline telephone. 85.7% of respondents were contacted via cell phone telephone. This survey was commissioned by WDIV Local 4 News and the Detroit News.
