Eminem and Jake Gyllenhaal surprise audience in Livonia

The two stars make an apperance at a special premiere of "Southpaw"

LIVONIA, Mich. – Those who went to the special screening of "Southpaw" at the AMC Livonia 20 got a once in a lifetime surprise.

Eminem and Jake Gyllenhaal made an appearance at the multiplex Sunday night, and the audience went wild cheering and taking photos of the two.

Gyllenhaal stars in the boxing movie, which opens in theaters on Friday, as a Billy Hope, a fighter who falls on hard times after losing his wife while also fighting to win full custody of his child.

The role was first meant for the Detroit rapper, but quickly turned down the role due to his latest album and tour.

He did manage to stay on board as the executive producer of the films' soundtrack.

"Southpaw" hits theaters Friday July 24, 2015, with some multiplexes hosting special premieres Thursday night.
