HBO's popular series is based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels written by George R. R. Martin.

Season six ended June 26, 2016, with the episode "The Winds of Winter."

While the first six season of the show had 10 episodes each, the seventh season is expected to end after just seven episodes.

The series as a whole will reportedly end after the eighth season, which doesn't have an official release date yet.
