DETROIT – On a chilly Sunday evening a crowd gathered inside El Club in Detroit for what would be an incredibly moving and intimate show.
Phil Good opened the show at 8 p.m. He connected with the audience and had them laughing at his jokes. A good amount of people were familiar with his music, singing along.

Overall, the energy at El Club was positive. The audience was kind, and made room for each other. Jaymes Young took the stage at 9 p.m.
The venue is on the smaller side, but that seemed to amplify the power behind Young’s vocal skills. This was something that radiated through the audience.
The lighting work was also something to take note of. It seemed as though a lot of thought and care went into the light design because it really intensified the show as a whole -- the lights seemed to flow with the music.
In my opinion, his performance of “Feel Something” was better than the recorded version. The experience overall was impressive. The venue, the crowd, and the lighting work made for something truly special.
