Dolly Parton bows out of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination: ‘Extremely flattered and grateful’

Parton says nomination ‘inspired’ her to put out rock and roll album

Country music star Dolly Parton was nominated for 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she “respectfully” bowed out.

Parton said that while she is “extremely flattered and grateful,” she didn’t feel she had earned the right to be nominated. She said the nomination has inspired her to put out a rock and roll album in the future.

Other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for 2022 induction are: Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, DEVO, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, and Dionne Warwick.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture”, said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”
