Don’t have a date this Valentine’s Day? Take yourself out in Detroit instead

If you didn’t know that Valentine’s Day is around the corner, here’s your friendly reminder that it is Tuesday.

While the Hallmark holiday is all about you and your significant other, I wanted to plan out a Valentine’s Day you can have to celebrate yourself!

There are many fun things to do in Detroit by yourself. I picked out a dozen of my favorite places I like to check out in the wintertime. If Valentines Day was in the summer, I would have a few more seasonal options that are fun to do solo.

Below is an action-packed day you can have by yourself during the Hallmark holiday of love.

  1. Go to the Detroit Institute of Arts in Midtown
  2. Grab a cup of joe at Black Coffee and Cafe in Arden Park
  3. Go to the Schvitz by Milwaukee Junction
  4. Enjoy wine at Ladder 4 Wine Bar in Corktown
  5. Take a yoga class at Live Cycle Delight in West Village
  6. See a show at Armageddon Beachparty Lounge in Midtown or Tangent Gallery in New Center
  7. Have dinner at Freya in Downtown
  8. Watch a film at The Film Lab in Hamtramck or Cinema Detroit in Midtown
  9. Have a cocktail at Dragonfly in New Center
  10. Peruse through records at Peoples Records in Eastern Market or Paramita Sound in Downtown
  11. Pick up yourself some flowers from Flowers for Dreams in Eastern Market
  12. Grab a new read at John K. King Used & Rare Books in Downtown.
  13. Take a walk along the Riverfront in Downtown
