Eminem teams up with Big Sean, BabyTron for new single called ‘Tobey’

It’s a Detroit rapper trifecta

Eminem is back again.

Before he releases his first full album in four years, he’s dropped another single called “Tobey” that features fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron.

The song starts out with a line from BabyTron that will go down as an instant classic: “Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider, but see, me, it was a goat.”

As many know, goat is an acronym for “greatest of all time,” and there is for sure evidence for labeling Eminem, Big Sean and BabyTron as the goats of Detroit rap, although this song seems to be about who actually is the goat.

While the song doesn’t drum up the nostalgia that Eminem’s lead single, “Houdini,” did, there are still some lines in the song that feel like Eminem is back to the basics and making music like he used to. The line that he raps “I can’t help but feel like a victim of child abuse, cause I am bout, to get the god d*** belt” is just classic Eminem.

It’s the kind of lyric that makes you think, “did he really just say that?” That’s what Eminem does -- he shocks you with the things that come out of his head.

The other great part about this song is the artwork that came along with it. If you are a connoisseur of internet memes, you will instantly recognize the reference. The meme is of three different Spider-Man characters all pointing to each other, so this artwork shows Eminem, Big Sean and BabyTron all pointing at each other, presumably over who is the goat of Detroit rappers. It’s a fun little nod, and shows that they’re all in on the joke.

This isn’t the first time that Eminem has teamed up with Big Sean, too. The Detroit legends have worked together on the songs “Detroit vs. Everybody,” “No Favors,” and “Friday Night Cypher.” This is the first time that they’ve both worked with BabyTron.

The music video for the song is reportedly coming out on Friday, July 5.

The new album comes out July 12.
