Sunday, September 29th from 10am-4pm

Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum, Detroit

This weekend there’s a very special FREE event taking place at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. One hundred and sixteen years ago on September 29th the first Model T was produced at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. Sunday, September 29th from 10am-4pm the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant will be hosting a birthday party for the Model T. Visitors can enjoy free Model T rides, vintage vehicles displays, live music, unique vendors, fun games for the kids and BIRTHDAY CAKE!! There is no cost for outdoor activities or amenities in the Piquette Assembly Room. The line for Model T rides will form near the historic front entrance and will be first-come, first-serve until 3pm. Complimentary birthday cake will be served at 12 p.m.

Farmington 200th Bicentennial Light Show

Last week maybe you saw our Local 4 projection mapping activation at Eastern Market After Dark. Artist, Gabriel Hall is at it again this Friday and has created a magnificent display to celebrate Farmington’s 200th Bicentennial. The show recreates Farmington’s founding history through an incredible display of light and sound. Check it out if you’re in the area!

Murals in Islandview 2024

From the creators of Murals in the Market, there’s a new mural event right down the street in Detroit’s Islandview neighborhood. There will be 9 murals, and 2 installations added to the neighborhood amongst five days of community programming concluding with a block party in front of Spot Lite Detroit to celebrate Detroit’s Month of Design. The event is sponsored by Gilbert Family Foundation, Design Core, Michigan Glass Project, Michigan State University and Hospitality Included.

This Friday and Saturday, head over to Batch Brewing Co. for Smoketoberfest! BBQ, beer and great live music will be on tap! On Friday, Pajamas, Dirty Notion, Violet Soul and The Professor will perform and on Saturday, Chirp, Durieux, Instruments of Musick and Papa Joshua will bring the heat on stage!

Moulin Rouge! The Musical!

Hey sister, soul sister, want to see a new musical, sister? Well, you’re in luck, because Moulin Rouge! The Musical! will be playing at the Detroit Opera House from Sept. 18 - Oct. 6. The show is based off the hit movie that starred Nicole Kidman. It’s a jukebox musical, so all the music in the show is pop music that you already know, which of course makes it super fun. If you love theater, this Tony-winning show will not want to be missed!

Arts & Scraps final block party of the year is this weekend! This Saturday they partnered with Detroit Puppet Company to bring you Puppet Slam Block Party to tribute the recent passing of Detroit puppeteer Nancy Henk. There will be free tacos from Tacos Hernandez and live music from DJ Auntie Chanel.

Festival of Darkness

The 3rd annual Festival of Darkness Film Festival returns to the Redford Theatre for an evening of 13 spooky independent short films by local and international film makers. The film festival will be greatly horrific for those looking to get into the Halloween spirit a little early this year. The film festival is 18+ and tickets are $10.

All month you can check out the 14th annual Detroit Month of Design to celebrate Detroit being the only UNESCO City of Design in the entire country. Over 100 events will activate spaces all over the city throughout the whole month of September. There will be immersive design experiences including exhibitions, installations, studio visits, product launches, artist talks, tours, workshops, Eastern Market After Dark, and parties nearly every day of the month. Love coffee? Coincidentally LOVE COWS too? Well, getty on up to the Asam Acres farm in Tecumseh Michigan every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm to enjoy a cup of joe and some cow cuddling. Over the weekends, this small family-owned dairy farm is open to the public with an adorable cafe with offering fresh coffee and refreshments, baked goods and plenty of opportunities to snuggle up to some cows.
