Is it just us or does October always seem to have some of the most unique and exciting events? This week we’ve included a quite a few good reasons to get off your couch.
From the Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 49th Anniversary Spectacular Tour on Thursday, to a Comedy Ghost Walk in Downtown Detroit and great bands performing at Third Man Records on Friday, to Cider in the City all weekend and the legendary Stevie Wonder at Little Caesars next Tuesday, there’s a lot of good reasons to get out!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 49th Anniversary Tour

Let’s do the Time Warp again! It’s been 49 years since the cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show” was released, and it’s been delighting audiences ever since. The anniversary tour is stopping by Detroit on Thursday. Oct. 17 and will feature Patricia Quinn, who first played Magenta in the film. Not only do you get to watch the movie with a shadow cast reenacting the movie, but there is even a costume contest for fans that dress up as characters from the movie.

Comedy Ghost Walk

Looking for a fun alternative way to explore Downtown Detroit? Check out Comedy Ghost Walk this Friday. It’s not a sightseeing tour, no notable landmarks will be visited, and all information will be false. Comedy Ghost Walk is basically a walking comedy show where comedians take you on a stroll through the city sharing scary stories, jokes and an original comedy experience.

MJ Lenderman w/ Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band

One of indie rock’s newest and greatest voices is MJ Landerman, and he’s playing a sold-out show at El Club in Southwest Detroit. Now, I know this show is sold out, but there is waiting list (and websites like StubHub) so you can attempt to get into this show. If not, Lenderman is coming back to Detroit in May and playing at the Masonic Cathedral Theatre. Lenderman’s new album, “Manning Fireworks,” is one of the best new albums of the year.

Get dinner with a side of murder at the Dinner Detective this weekend. Eat, laugh and become part of this immersive murder mystery dinner show where actors are hidden within the audience and you become part of excitement in figuring out whodunit.

The Sadies w/ Duende
Saturday, October 19th at 8pm
Third Man Records, Detroit
Hailing all the way from Toronto, Ontario, The Sadies, who have performed all over the world for the past 30 years will perform at Third Man Records. Their sound is described as an earthy arsenal of roots music, spanning from different genres such as spaghetti western, surf, garage rock, psychedelic and country. Also, one of Detroit’s favorite rockabilly bands, Duende will be opening up the evening at 9pm.

Mural Reception | Packard Art Collective

Packard Art Collective - 7032 E Ferry St, Detroit
This Sunday, Packard Art Collective is hosting a Mural Reception for artist, Uta Brauser. Uta, who is originally from Germany practices as a multidisciplinary artist in both Detroit and New York. She established the Packard Art Collective a few years ago to form a space for artists to collaborate, create and perform.

Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder’s Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart tour will grace our ears next Tuesday at the Little Caesars Arena. Stevie Wonder’s last time performing in Detroit was nearly 10 years ago, so if you’re a fan mark your calendar for this one. His tour is a 10-city swing state tour that will only take place in swing states ahead of the November election, two of which are right here in Michigan.
