Mean Girls the Musical
Now until November 24th
Fisher Theatre
Mean Girls the Musical is so fetch! The 2004 comedy became an instant classic when it was released 20 years ago (feel old yet?), and I’ve probably watched it more times than I’d like to admit. Just by the headline of this article, you already know that I can drop a quote from the movie at a moment’s notice. Danny DeVito, I love your work! That’s why I was so excited to see that the Broadway production of “Mean Girls” would be making its way to the Fisher Theatre.

Jim Gaffigan will be performing not one, but three shows in Detroit this weekend at the Fox Theatre. The tour is titled ‘Barely Alive,’ which quite frankly has to be a great big joke with his back-to-back shows in Detroit Friday and Saturday. Gaffigan is a seven-time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, two-time New York Times best-selling author, three-time Emmy winner and recently has been listed as a top ten comedian according to Forbes.
True West by Sam Shepard
November 8th - November 24th
Planet Ant Theatre, Hamtramck
Calling all play enthusiasts and people with good taste! It’s the last weekend to see True West by celebrated and award-winning American playwright, Sam Shepard at Planet Ant Theatre. True West is about a screenwriter, who is house-sitting for his mother in Southern California when his estranged brother, a petty thief, unexpectedly arrives. Tensions rise between the brothers, roles reverse, and chaos ensues confronting their shared past and strained relationship, culminating in a raw and explosive exploration of family and identity.
Chris Schanck: A Surreality

The exhibit showcases objects, sculptures, and furniture that explores the nature of science fiction, myth and fantasy presented as relics from the artist’s dreamscapes or sur-reality. The exhibit will be open through February 23rd at MOCAD.
