Arab American National Museum
The Arab American National Museum is hosting its annual Arab Film Festival this week. The festival will showcase both Arab and Arab American films, appealing to fans of Arabic-language movies, adventurous art films, and complex stories. Many of these films are unlikely to be shown in traditional American commercial theaters and will include a variety of genres such as dramas, comedies, and documentaries. All festival films are subtitled in English, ensuring they are accessible to everyone.

Cranbrook Art Museum
Every Thursday from 11 am - 8 pm, the Cranbrook Art Museum offers free admission and extended hours! Additionally, you can enjoy free mini golf on the weekends of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. From May 3rd through September, come explore Cranbrook’s artist-designed miniature golf course located right outside the art museum. Two new holes have been added to Cranbrook on the Green.

Art Birmingham, previously known as the Birmingham Fine Art Festival, returns for its 44th year. Approximately 150 juried artists will be showcased, featuring a variety of mediums such as jewelry, ceramics, painting, glass, photography, fiber, and more. There will also be children’s art activities, live entertainment, and food and beverage vendors. The fair is free and makes for a great outing for Mother’s Day.

Space Dive 2025 - Space Dive Strikes Back!

May the fourth be with you! Space Dive returns for the 10th year in row! Space Dive Strikes Back will be hosted at the Tangent Gallery on May 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, and 10th. If you’ve never been you probably have no idea what you’re missing out on. Space Dive is one of the coolest pop-up experiences to happen annually in Detroit for Star Wars fans and beyond. Each night features unique live performances, an in-world marketplace with rare finds from across the galaxy, culinary delights, blue milk and other craft cocktails, seedy gambling spots, interactive characters and environments, blaster battles, droids, explosions, and much more! Evening events are 21+, and costumes are mandatory. Family Days are 11 am - 4 pm Saturday the 3rd and 10th. Kids are free.

House of Tarot

Immerse yourself in four floors of art! The House of Tarot is an art installation featuring the work of 22 artists, each offering a unique representation of one of the 22 Major Arcana Tarot cards. Visitors will receive a reading and take a journey through the works, from room to room across four floors. This art experience opens Friday and will have special visitation hours through May 10th at the century-old Herman Kiefer Complex.
Sturgill Simpson: Who the **** is Johnny Blue Skies 2025 Tour

Sturgill Simpson, also known as “Johnny Blue Skies,” is currently on his “Who The **** Is Johnny Blue Skies? 2025 Tour.” This tour follows a successful 2024 run, during which he played 35 shows in 28 cities, attracting over 200,000 fans in support of his latest album, the critically acclaimed ‘Passage du Desir’. This time, Sturgill Simpson will perform 23 shows across the U.S., with a notable performance at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre on Saturday.
Big Sean: A Night of Dark Sky Paradise

Big Sean will be performing a free concert in Detroit this weekend, and tickets for the show will be completely free. The Detroit native announced the concert, “A Night of Dark Paradise,” in a post on Instagram. He said the purpose of the concert is to celebrate 10 years of “Dark Sky Paradise,” his album that was released on Feb. 24, 2015. Tickets to the concert are free and will be available Friday to reserve at 3pm EST.

The largest exhibition of art glass in the world is opening this weekend! Gla53 will feature 400 works of art by artists working in the medium of glass from around the world. This breathtaking exhibition is the highlight of the year for Habatat Galleries - the oldest and largest gallery in the world, dedicated to contemporary art glass. The public is invited to join the opening celebration, free of charge and can enjoy the exhibit through September 19th.
