She is a student at the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences, and her rendition of “Defying Gravity” from the musical “Wicked” is incredible.

Ava, who is only 10 years old, is clearly talented, but her confidence, poise and star power is so clear in the video. It’s actually hard to believe she is a fourth grader. Ava’s mom told us that she has been singing since she learned to talk, and it’s something that is a huge part of who she is.

The comments on the video are so fun to read, too. Everyone is basically in love with Ava’s voice (how could you not be?), and some even describe how close her cover sounds like Cynthia Erivo’s, who played Elphaba in the movie version of “Wicked.” Once you watch the video, you’ll have a hard time disagreeing. She even nail’s Erivo’s final battle cry from the end of the song.

The video of her singing the video has 3.6 million views (and counting), and original Broadway cast member Kristin Chenoweth (who played Glinda) commented on the Instagram video of her performance. Pretty cool for it to have reached actual celebrities!

Ava’s mom said that she and Ava are still shocked by the response the video has.

There’s another angle of her performance that has racked up 1.3 million views. You can watch both videos below.

Ava obviously won her talent show, and from the moment she sang “It’s meeeeee” I knew she was going to bring the house down. Ava sings the video just like Erivo does, so you can see just how much of an impression she left on little girls who went to see the movie in theaters.

Detroit is full of SO much talent, so it really shouldn’t be a surprise that someone as talented as Ava comes from here. We can’t wait to see what else she does in the future!
