Despite his harsh criticisms, Mr. ChimeTime really seemed to enjoy his time in Detroit

He absolutely caught the spirit of Detroit

Popular social media influencer Rashad Mooreman, aka Mr. ChimeTime, shook up the Detroit food scene during his 2024 visit.

Mooreman is notorious for leaving openly honest review of places he eats at during his travels, so when he visited Detroit in early 2024, no restaurant or food truck was safe.

Oh, and opinions did he have. He gave extensive reviews of some of Detroit’s most popular spots. Some were pretty nice and reasonable, and some he really had a problem with (just ask Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti). But then again, he was just being honest! People on social media crave honesty, so when someone is saying exactly how they feel, people can’t help but watch and connect.

That’s exactly how Mooreman has developed such a deep following on pretty much every social media platform that exists.

He has more than 1.6 million followers on TikTok, over 900,000 on Facebook, 604,000 on Instagram, and more than 589,000 on YouTube. His reviews can really make or break a restaurant, especially in a city like Detroit.

Yes, he was very opinionated, but Mooreman also took some time to celebrate the city of Detroit, something that may have gone missed by fans during his stay in our city. He’s a native to North Carolina, so visiting Detroit was a first for him.

In a recap video of his visit to the city, Mooreman called Detroit the “best city in America,” and that says a lot for someone who has traveled so much.

Mooreman’s trip started off a little bit rocky (bad AirBnB, really cold weather), but as his time here went on, he felt like he became a part of the city. He got to attend a Pistons game, as well as the historic first playoff game at Ford Field with the Lions.

He was recognized by Detroiters while he was out and about, learned about “what up doe?” and even bought a pair of Buffs. If that isn’t Detroit, I don’t know what is!

His trip ended with a helicopter ride above the city, and he got to take in all the views of Detroit’s “sexy” skyline, as he called it. We’re so used to living here and seeing Detroit all the time, but it’s really something to see it through the perspective of someone visiting for the first time. When he called it the best city in America, I really believe him.
