Thursday, September 19th at Eastern Market After Dark from 6-11 p.m. we have an eye dazzling activation that we’ve never done before envisioned and curated by our Special Event Producer, Laura Wartel. As a media partner, for Design Core’s Eastern Market After Dark and Detroit Month of Design we’re bringing you something special to look forward to.

We’re thrilled to present a projection mapping installation on the façade of Devries & Co 1887 in Eastern Market by Gabriel Hall, a 2024 Kresge Artist Fellowship winner. Gabriel has worked on some very prestigious projects throughout his career, which have included projection mapping and live VJ-ing at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Public Library, Red Bull House of Arts and major festivals such as Movement Music Festival, Electric Forest and Dlectricity.
Gabriel is a Detroit-based artist whose passion as an abstract film maker grew and developed through Detroit’s underground music scene and galleries leading him to his most prestigious artistic endeavors with museums and nationally known festivals as a 3D projection mapper. While he produces original moving imagery, he also live edits his video art to encapsulate surfaces or a building’s unique architecture. At Eastern Market After Dark Gabriel will projection map the 130+ year old Devries & CO 1887 building in reference to Local 4’s design history creating a unique timelapse of our company branding from now all the way back to our founding date in 1946.
