We know servers put up with a lot. They have to fulfill all of their customers’ requests -- even those that go beyond extra napkins.
While there may be nothing wrong with asking for a birthday song, or the surprise delivery of a special dessert, there are some requests that walk the line.
For example, a Local 4 staff member recently asked a server to deliver a toddler’s shoe as dessert to someone at their table. It was part of a family joke, was well received, and the server was tipped extra (of course), but it got us thinking: Just how strange do these requests get for waitstaff?
That’s why we want to hear from the servers themselves: What is the weirdest request you’ve ever received from a customer while on the job? Let us know in the form below! (And feel free to share more than one.)
