Tyler became president on April 4, 1841 after the death of William Henry Harrison. He served in office until March 4, 1845, for 1,430 days in office. He was not nominated for re-election.#9: Andrew Johnson was the 17th President of the United States. He served from April 15, 1865 to March 4, 1869 for 1,419 days. Johnson became president after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.#8: Chester A. Arthur served from Sept. 19, 1881 until March 4, 1885 as the 21st president. Arthur became president after the assassination of James Garfield. He served for 1,262 days.#7: John F. Kennedy was elected the 35th President of the United States. He served from Jan. 20, 1961 until Nov. 22, 1963 when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. His term lasted 1,036 days.#6: Millard Fillmore was the 13th President of the United States and served from July 9, 1850 to March 4, 1853. Fillmore became president after the death of Zachary Taylor and was in office for 969 days.#5: Gerald Ford served as the 40th President of the United States following the resignation of Richard Nixon.
