Gardner White, Red Cross host Aug. 13 bloodrives

Eligible blood donors are encouraged to give blood to help ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need. The Red Cross is facing a looming shortage of the most needed blood types, but this can be prevented when generous volunteers roll up their sleeves to help save lives.

Gardner-White Furniture is aiding efforts by sponsoring Red Cross blood drives across Southeastern Michigan on Thursday, August 13 at the following seven locations:

All who come to donate will receive a coupon for $50 off a Gardner White purchase of at least $399.00, and will be entered to win a flat screen television. Eligible donors with types O negative, B negative and A negative blood are especially needed at this time. Type O negative is the universal blood type and can be transfused to patients of all blood types.

How to donate blood
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
