Dr. Batra talks about having open heart surgery and how things have changed dramatically
Dr. Batra: We now have the ability to place the heart valves through a minimally invasive approach, a small puncture in the artery in the leg. We can bring the valve up on a beating heart, deploy the valve and patients are up sitting in a chair that evening.
Question: What does this mean for patients?
Dr. Batra: Well, as you know the recovery prior to was one week in the hospital three months before they could do anything strenuous, 80% of our patients are going home within one to two days, golfing, driving within three to four days, much quicker recovery.
