DETROIT – Fitness at any age is crucial to our health. That’s why it’s the focus of Local 4′s Go 4 It event in July.
Our Dr. Frank McGeorge is teaming up with the Detroit Riverwalkers to promote regular exercise and a healthier lifestyle. The Detroit Riverwalkers is a program for adults 50 and older that encourages wellness. He will be joining them on Tuesday, July 23rd at 8 a.m. and leading participants on a one-mile walk.

The program will also offer free blood pressure checks and a free Zumba class.

To further promote the event, Go 4 It will also be collecting new sporting equipment for the Detroit Police Athletic League, which offers programming to children from ages four through high school in Detroit and Metro Detroit. Local 4 will be taking donations at Cullen Plaza, off Atwater Street in the city of Detroit, Tuesday, July 23rd from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The program is in need of the following NEW sporting equipment.
- Soccer balls -- sizes 3, 4 and 5
- Diamond, Wilson or Rawlings high school baseballs and T-balls.
- Volleyballs (women’s indoor)
- New youth/junior hockey equipment
- Softballs -- 11 and 12-inch
- Pro Mark Softballs
- Softball bats -- Various lengths, 34″-27″
- Footballs for flag football
