'Angry' wasps may be stinging out of boredom

'German wasps' enter angry stage

No description found

"German wasps" are very angry and more likely to sting you for no reason right now.

Professor Adam Hart is from the University of Gloucestershire and a fellow at the Royal Entomological Society, or as he describes himself - a 'bug botherer’. He said: “One idea is that they are unemployed - their colony has come to an end, and they are not really doing anything anymore.”

“I think we’ve got a combination of wasp behavior linked with human behavior. They are flying around in high numbers, and we are grabbing on to every chance to be outside, and you have a perfect storm coming together,” added Professor Hart.

The vespula germanica is a common wasp species mostly found in the British Isles.
