DETROIT – A Michigan woman found a Wayne County marriage license from 1935 in a trunk she purchased at an auction - and now she's hoping to reunite it with the rightful owners.

Carrie Pretzer LeVan posted about the missing license on Monday and her Facebook post has more than 1,700 shares.

Carrie posted: 

Ok Facebook, I need help finding the family of these two people: Samuel McDonald and Ophelia Curry McDonald. We purchased a trunk at auction that was locked. When we opened it, we found that it contained a marriage license (issued in Wayne County Michigan-1935) among other paperwork. I would love to find the family and give it back to them! Please share this!

Many in the comments are already digging and looking for possible connections. 

Susie Roe Detweiler: Samuel and Ophelia lived on Lumpken Avenue in Detroit City in 1940, they were 38 and 37. No children listed in the household. They were black. Samuel was born in South Carolina and Ophelia was born in Missouri. Their rent was $25 a month and Samuel made $1100/ year.
