Illustrator Joel Carroll decided it was time to reveal Thomas the Tank Engine's true form.
He tweeted this image of Thomas crawling out of his engine, finally showing his rather strange body to the world.

For anyone who doesn't know Thomas the Tank Engine, he is the most famous character from "The Railway Series" books by Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher Awdry. Thomas later became the main character in the "Thomas & Friends" TV series.
Of course, Carroll can only offer this image of Thomas as a mere hypothesis. No one has ever captured his true form as he stays fit in his engine. Hopefully it is not this disturbing.
