Spring in Michigan can be a bit chillier than in most states, but the snow can’t stop Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan from rolling out an all-new spring wardrobe. Today he shared what’s in and what’s out for the new season.
The big question Jordan hoped to answer was what looks from fashion shows are ready to hit the streets, and what styles should stay on the runway. He and Kim DeGiulio played a game of “Trend or Foe,” where Kim decided whether or not she would rock the new fashion trends.
The biggest trend of the season is the wide cut. Skinny jeans, skinny ties, they’re all out. Everything is getting wider, and Kim said while she still prefers the millennial-style skinny jeans, she thinks the wider styles are a great look.
Next up Kim and Jordan reviewed the hot colors of the season. First was the vibrant “tennis ball” green. Kim said this look is a friend for her. Tangerine is also in, and Jordan says this is a great choice if you want to stay in style, but feel a bit overwhelmed by neon.
Bubblegum pink is also very in, along with colored denim. and mom jeans, otherwise known as jeans with a high rise and a straight leg. Jordan combined the two into one, but Kim said the pants had to be a foe for her.
Runways are also taking inspiration from women’s tutus at the moment, which Jordan said is a look a little too bold even for him. But something subtle like a lace or tulle bottom on a sweater is a classy way to nod to the trend.
