Belle Isle is revving with more energy than usual on a hot sunny day and that’s because it’s race weekend! The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is back and so are the race fans on the island.
Live in the D reporter Kila Peeples took a step on to the race track for Comerica Bank Free Prix Day.
Comerica Bank Free Prix day includes practice and qualifying races.
Kila spoke to Laura Klauser, the sports car racing program manager for General Motors, who said that the Grand Prix is exciting because fans get a chance to see and feel the adrenaline of the race cars passing by. It’s also a chance for friends and family to have a good time together.
Kila also spoke to Jordan Taylor, one of the corvette race car drivers. Jordan is actually driving a new corvette for the first time during the Grand Prix. The specific corvette was last seen in the 2008 Grand Prix. Jordan says the Grand Prix rack can be a bit intimidating but definitely rewarding.
You can watch the Grand Prix from the comfort of your home all weekend on Local 4.
