Local musician Emuell Tedford has been playing piano since the age of 5 and has had a tremendous career working with award-winning artists like Anita Baker, Bishop Marvin Winans, and more. Emuell Tedford joined Jason Carr to talk about his career and his new solo album.
Tedford said he began playing piano at a young age to accompany his sister who sang. His parents wanted Tedford and his four brothers to play an instrument so they could be her band. He first started playing lead guitar but then found out he was a natural with the piano keys.
Now he has a new soul/jazz album he’s working on in honor of his brother who passed away while he was working on the record. After going on hiatus for 5 years while making it, Tedford had new found inspiration to complete the album. One of the songs from the album is called “Happy Times”.
