Showcasing Detroit’s underground art scene

Sheefy Mcfly shares his artwork, and appearance on the new Facebook show

Facebook has just launched a show called “On The Map”, which is a community inspired travel series. The newest episode showcases Detroit Black artists who are also community builders.

One of these Detroit artists is Tashif Turner AKA “Sheefy Mcfly”, who is known for his colorful pop art style and musical talent. Sheefy joined “Live In the D” co-host Tati Amare to talk about his artwork, and influence in Detroit.

Sheefy said his focus is to make Detroit more colorful, and he has made advancements with over 10 murals spanning across Detroit. He said it feels like we are amidst a “Detroit Renaissance”, and this is the best time to amplify the love and community that is not being seen.

Sheefy said being on the Facebook show was very fun, and sitting alongside other Detroit artists portrayed the strong sense of community we have in the city. He said his artwork is meant to be “bigger than life”, and his inspiration comes naturally through living.
