New “Craft Pass” to explore breweries and distilleries

Ann Arbor Craft pass introduces folks to new places in a unique way

Imagine having your phone guide you to discover popular craft breweries, distilleries, and other destinations featuring adult beverages. It’s called The Ann Arbor Area Craft Beer and Distillery Pass.

This new digital concept created by Destination Ann Arbor is meant to introduce folks to micro-breweries and distilleries across Washtenaw county. Amy Karbo and Lauren Bloom joined “Live In The D” co-host Jason Carr to talk about the pass, and some of the places taking part.

Amy Karbo, Director of Community Engagement for Destination Ann Arbor, said the pass came about two years ago as part of a strategic recovery plan for Washtenaw County in response to the pandemic. She said one of the goals in the recovery plan was to identify initiatives to implement to help rebuild the local economy, and a Craft Passport would increase visitor traffic through local businesses.

For a business to participate in the passport you must produce your own product, and Lauren Bloom, owner of Bløm Meadworks, does just that. Lauren said they are one of the many stops included in the Craft Pass, and they specialize in mead and cider. She said all of their beverages are made from locally sourced ingredients, and she offers a 20% discount for Craft Pass holders.
