3 things you should ask yourself before buying a bike

Kind of like vehicles, different bikes are meant for different purposes.

Bike riding became many people’s favorite pastime during the pandemic, but there are some things you should know before buying your own set of wheels.

Mike O’Donnell, one of the experts at D&D Bicycle Stores, had some suggestions as to what questions we should be asking before purchasing a bike.

  1. Will this bike do what you want it to do? This is probably the most important question, because kind of like vehicles, different bikes are meant for different purposes.
  2. Do you want to go mountain biking, or are you planning to stay on the city streets? Those are two very different types of bikes, with different tires and frames.
  3. Will this bike be your transportation to work? If so, you’ll want to look for something sturdy that will stand up to daily use. Also, if you plan to carry your groceries on the bike, or perhaps even plan to pack for a cross-country trip, you will want to make sure the bike has good rigging on to attach your gear to.

You should also consider something as simple as your experience level on a bike. More experienced riders will be looking for different amenities and functions than a new rider should.

Based on the function, you will want to look into different styles of bikes.

An experienced professional can help you navigate through all those questions, to find a bike with the right features to suit your needs. It’s best to do some research before purchasing.
