How pets might be able to benefit your mental health

Michigan Humane shares how animals can help with your well-being

Pets can bring so much joy, and it has been proven that they can also improve mental health, according to the American Heart Association.

People of all ages have experienced a lot in the past few years, and bringing a pet into your home can make things better in many ways.

Devan Bianco from Michigan Humane joined “Live in the D” co-host Tati Amare to explain further.

Plus, Bianco introduced us to a new, adorable pet that needs a home.

May also marks Mental Health Awareness Month.

Bianco said pets provide feelings of togetherness, can help combat loneliness, strengthen social bonds and connections with people around us and encourage physical activity.

This week’s pet of the week is Amelia, a 2 1/2-month-old pit bull mix. She’s looking for a home that is going to take her on long walks and trips. She craves attention, enjoys being touched and has those sweet puppy dog eyes down to a science.

If you are interested in adopting the Pet of the Week, the Mike Morse Law Firm will pay all your standard adoption fees.
