How do you bring the drama and intrigue of the British royal family to life? “Live In The D host” Jason Carr sat down with the cast of the new Starz’s series “Becoming Elizabeth” to find out.
“This is the untold story of the Princess, a young woman trying to find a way between duty and family affairs, religion, politics, and just wants to fall in love for the first time,” actress Alicia von Rittberg who plays a young Elizabeth Tutor told Jason.
The 8 part drama series, now playing on Starz’s, begins after the death of Henry the 8th, when everyone is searching for their power, said Tom Cullen who plays Thomas Seymour, the uncle to young King Edward.
Cullen said his character Seymour is also seeking power and takes a young Elizabeth into his and his wife’s care to use her as a political piece. Seymour’s plan takes a different turn when he starts to view Elizabeth as something more.
The actors told Jason that although the series is based on historical truth, all history is an interpretation.
Rittberg says the show is relevant today because it’s interesting to learn how a female leader finds her voice and place in the world.
