Live music, a carnival, & celebrating a wizard

Here’s what’s happening around the D this weekend

There’s still a whole lot of summer left in the D, and plenty of events happening for just about everyone.

Kicking off the weekend is the annual Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair in Sterling Heights. The event features a full midway with carnival rides, and food. There will also be live music, with Mt. Clemens’ own Uncle Kracker performing on Saturday. Kids activities, arts and crafts and much more will also be included, the Sterlingfest starts Thursday and runs through Saturday.

Now over to Eastern Market for a little grown-up fun. The Detroit Whisky Festival returns for its 5th year to Shed 3. The event will feature hundreds of whiskys and bourbons from around the globe. VIP admission is at 6pm and general admission at 7pm. The event goes to 10pm.

Here’s an event for the entire family: It’s the birthday celebration for Harry Potter! Canterbury Village in Lake Orion is hosting the birthday bash and will be magically transformed, featuring unique vendors, interactive characters from the wizarding world, and much more. There will be two sessions both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm.
