Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, the hit Broadway musical “Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations” is here in the D!
“Live in the D’s,” Tati Amere, spoke with the shows writer, and native Detroiter, Dominique Morisseau, about performing a “Detroit show,” in front of a “Detroit audience.”
“There will never be bigger nerves than to have the show in front of Otis Williams himself,” Morisseau said of the original Temptation himself. As well she admits, performing in Detroit is hard.
Morisseau says she wrote The Temptations’ story from Williams’ point of view. She says the group’s music helped her write the story, and in the show, the audience will get different meanings from each piece.
