Season 22 of The Voice premiered Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. on NBC. This season, coaches include Blake Shelton, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and new to the show Camila Cabello.
Rachel Mac, season 20 finalist from Romeo joined Tati Amare on “Live in the D” to discuss her experience and the upcoming season.
According to Mac, the show was an amazing experience and created new opportunities.
“Just having the support of Nick Jonas, who was my coach, and just having people know who I am,” Mac said. “It opened so many doors that I couldn’t even imagine so it was a great help.”
She also made strong connections with other contestants from her season.
“It went by so fast for me but one of the best things about the show is that you meet so many great people and the contestants, you really become like family and I’m still super close friends with some of the contestants that were on my season…,” Mac said.
Mac said her two biggest takeaways from the show were confidence and having fun.
“A lot of people after the show think they’re going to be the greatest star but for me it was like, how fun to be a 15-year-old experiencing these things,” Mac said.
Mac is still a high-school student, but she’s still working on projects in her free time. Keep an ear open for her new music!
