We adore pets here at “Live in the D,” and this week is a great time to show it, even if you can’t adopt one. This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, and there are many ways you can help animal shelters near you.
Not sure how to help? Devan Bianco from Michigan Humane joined co-host Jason Carr on the show with great ideas and an adorable pet in need of a forever home.
Here are four ways that Bianco says people may show their appreciation and help their local shelter:
- Consider volunteering
- Help with fundraising
- Use social media to spread the word of how shelters support the community
- Check with your local shelter organization for details of how you can help
This week’s pet of the week is Hope, a four-month-old kitten. She enjoys playing and has a neurological disorder called cerebellar hypoplasia, which has no effect on her life but causes her to walk a little shaky at times. A home that can give her extra attention and has an excellent relationship with their vet and visits them on a regular basis, every six months to ensure she is happy and healthy, would be ideal.
The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fees for whoever adopts today’s pet.
