No matter what town you go to there’s always that place that people say, “You have to go there.” In Wyandotte, one of those places is Joe’s Hamburgers. This slider spot opened more than 15 years ago and has become a staple in the city. It’s the place where all the locals go, and everyone is treated like family. “Live In The D’s” Michelle Oliver got a chance to talk with the owner, Joe Hamburger, when she visited Wyandotte.
He told Michelle that the place started as a passion project when he hit a rough spot at his old job. He grew up in Wyandotte and wanted to do something a little different in the city. After getting into the restaurant industry, he decided to open his own slider restaurant inspired by his grandfather Joe.
Inside you’ll find all kinds of personal memorabilia from the family including family pictures, movie posters from the 80s, and even some of Joe’s personal hockey trophies.
When it comes to the food, you know it’s all about the burgers. He shared some of their best sellers with Michelle including their mushroom swiss burger, their “Big Joe” which is a bigger version of their sliders, and a burger called “The Sticky”.
