It’s finally here, the kick off weekend to the unofficial start of summer. Many of us are going to hit the road, but before you do, AAA of Michigan has some tips for you.
“A properly maintained vehicle is critical for a successful and safe road trip,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “We encourage all drivers to get a pre-trip inspection of their tires, battery, breaks, fluids, and other basics. This could help prevent a breakdown before it happens.”
Woodland said, AAA is expecting more than 1.1 million Michiganders to hit the road this weekend, the third highest since the company start compiling the numbers. So, she said there are going to be some busy roadways out there.
In addition to getting a pre-check vehicle maintenance, Woodland said there are a few essential items to keep in your car. “You want to have a properly stocked emergency kit, you want to include things like batteries, a flash light, cell phone charger, rain ponchos, jumper cables,” said Woodland. She also said, to have a first aid kit handy, which you can purchase at a local drug store. Also, have a good supply of snacks and water, enough for everyone in the car and pets.
