Graham Rahal talks racing on the new track in Detroit

He won the Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle in 2017 and he’s ready to win again

In 2017, Graham Rahal won the Detroit Grand Prix. Now, he is back in the field of racers, and on the streets of Detroit, hoping to take home another top of the podium finish. He joined “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest-host Hobie Artigue to talk about the new setup of the track downtown.

“I think it looks wonderful,” said Rahal. “We’re excited to get out there.” The racer says year one is always a different feel on a new track, and you have to get used to it because it takes time to get it perfect. But, he added that being in the city is the place where the race should be.

When talking about the specifics, Rahal said he’s looking forward to being on the straightaway on Jefferson Avenue. “Jefferson is the longest street course straightaway I’ve ever seen in my entire life. So, I think that’s going to give you plenty of passing opportunities,” said Rahal. “I see a great opportunity here to put on a heck of a race.”

Rahal is the son of famous IndyCar driver Bobby Rahal. He is also married to Courtney Force, a former drag racer and daughter of legendary 16-time NHRA drag racing champion John Force. So, how would he feel if one of his two daughters followed in their racing footsteps? Hear what he had to say in the video above.
