Great food, jazz, and whiskey? You can enjoy it all this weekend

Lots happening around Metro Detroit for just about everyone

We’re well into the summer, and as always, there are events going on around the D to get us out and about.

First up, you may see a lot of pink in Downtown Detroit today. In celebration of the new “Barbie” movie Campus Martius will transform into a pink beach paradise. The Barbie themed party will feature specialty cocktails, cotton candy, giveaways, live music, and more, all Barbie inspired. The party happens from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

From Barbie to BBQ, it’s the annual Pig and Whiskey Fest happening in Downtown Ferndale. There will be DIY artists, live entertainment, craft cocktails, and of course a steady flow of whiskey and BBQ. The Fest is happening Friday through Sunday at the corner of Woodward and Troy.

Now to an event that celebrates Italian Heritage. The Festa Italiana returns to Freedom Hill Country Park. Guests can enjoy live music, tons of food, mostly Italian inspired, family activities including, bounce houses, zip line, and more, and a fireworks display Friday night. The fest runs Friday through Sunday in Sterling Heights.

Lastly, for those looking to kick back and listen to some jazz, check out the Brightmoor Music Fest. The annual event kicks off Saturday at noon with the Dangerfield Band, then songstress Kimmie Horne takes the stage at 5 p.m. There’s a full lineup of acts the entire weekend. Classic cars will also be on display, as well as vendors and food trucks. Don’t forget your blanket or lawn chair. The music fest happens Saturday and Sunday at Etheldra Mae Williams park on Detroit’s Westside.,
