Aug. 2, 2023: The Buzz from ‘Live In The D’

Tati Amare on Live In The D (Copyright 2022 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.)

From Tati Amare – We’re having a BLAST with our new Couch Club -- have you guys checked it out yet? We just started it this week, and the response has been booming!

This new method is a cool way for us to take a poll on the fun topics that we cover. But, the best part? As you vote, we share the results in real-time live on TV! It’s been exciting to watch the polls go up and down as we try to guess people’s opinions. Some results have been predictable, and some have been way off from what I expected -- but isn’t that part of the intrigue and excitement? The immediate interaction with you keeps the conversation going! Also, by next week, we’ll be adding a way for you to share your comments and thoughts, just like you used to do on our Facebook page. With this new way, we’ll be showing your comment on-air and shouting out your hometown. Make sure to join us on the show to learn more, and check out ClickOnDetroit.com/CouchClub to start voting tomorrow.

🍨 Ice cream tacos. Do I have your attention? They’re being served in a new way, thanks to iChillyn Café, a spot in Rochester that’s all about ice cream and other sweet treats. The thing that may catch your eye is the rolled ice cream taco, but they also have churros, gelato, acai bowls, smoothies and much more. Take a look at some of the things they shared with us in studio.

In case you missed it

LA Knight to participate in this year's WWE SummerSlam (Copyright 2023 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.)

😮 Will it be bigger than Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Ed Sheeran? Ford Field has been a destination this summer with some of the biggest concerts in the country! But, they all may be overshadowed by what’s happening there this weekend. WWE’s SummerSlam will happen on the field in Detroit -- and the last time a WWE event happened there, it set an attendance record. Tati had a chance to speak to one of the WWE Superstars wrestling this weekend in the event. He is LA Knight, a fan favorite, and he says Detroit is perfect for SummerSlam.

💈 What can you get at this barber shop? You know that going to a barber shop is all about getting that stylish trim. You walk out feeling better than you walked in, because your hair is styled just right. Now, you don’t have to walk out, because Baus Barber in Metro Detroit is combining the lounge and barber experience all in one. It’s cocktails and cuts, and April Morton headed there to check it out, and learned how to make a signature cocktail.

From our sponsors and partners

Pets at the Metroparks (Copyright 2023 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.)

🐾 Summertime is a great time to go on an outdoor adventure. It can be anything from a hike to a swim. When you make plans to get out, it often means leaving the pets at home -- but our sponsor Huron-Clinton Metroparks wants you to know you can bring the dog along with you. There are great ways for you to stay active and you can keep your pet active, as well. There are even scheduled pool parties! Here’s a look at what’s planned for you and your pooch.

🌊 Summer and swimming go hand-in-hand, but you have to know how to swim first. Being comfortable around water is something that’s important for everyone, and it all starts with lessons so you know what to do in the water. For many kids, they never learn what to do when they’re in a pool. Our sponsor, the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, wants to change that. They offer special swim programs and lessons all year long -- and in some cases, they are even free!

Just for fun

🤣 This one is different. In fact, it’s so different, Simon Cowell actually needed an explanation as to what was happening on “America’s Got Talent.” It all went down when the act Noodle and Bun took the stage for their performance. They only problem is, they’re animated. So, what we saw at home is not what really happened in the theater. Here’s how it all went down, and it even left Simon laughing through the interview because he couldn’t believe “who” he was talking to.
