Naturally there’s a lot of focus on Christmas, which is just a few days away, but New Year’s Eve celebrations aren’t far behind and every year parents wonder how to celebrate with kids. Friend of “Live in the D” Kerry Doman, of “Little Guide Detroit,” stopped by the show with a few suggestions to keep the kiddos busy and active as we ring in the new year. “There’s this new transition called ‘Noon Year’s Eve’,” Doman said. She said, like her and many parents, this is a time to celebrate early, as opposed to counting down the new year at midnight with the kiddos.
There are plenty of activities to do at home she says, and recommends having party favors such as blow horns and poppers. For those looking to take the kids out on the town, The Michigan Science Center is hosting a family-friendly NYE celebration featuring hands-on science themed fun and NYE at noon.
Beacon Park in Downtown Detroit will have a kids NYE countdown with a DJ, crafts, family activities, and more. The celebration runs 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the countdown at 4:30p.
