Intermittent fasting is an eating strategy

One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight, and one approach could be intermittent fasting.

Intermittent fasting is an eating strategy for weight loss where you have a feeding window and a non-feeding window, explained fitness and nutrition expert Jody Trierweiler. Jody talked about the 16/8 intermittent fasting plan where you fast for 16 hours and then have an 8-hour feeding window each day. She explained that during this “fasted state” your cells can renew, recover, restore, and revive.

Jody said some of the benefits of intermittent fasting could be weight loss, reducing inflammation, lowering cholesterol, or lowering blood pressure.

Men and women’s bodies respond differently to intermittent fasting. Jody explained that it can be negative on a women’s body if you do intermittent fasting too intensely. She stressed that you need to take a break with intermittent fasting after four weeks. Jody said that men should take a break after about six weeks of intermittent fasting.

However, intermittent fasting is not safe for everyone. People who are Diabetic, pregnant, or under the age of 18 should attempt intermittent fasting, Jody explained. She also warned that it could be dangerous for people who have a past that involves eating disorders.
