Last weekend to take the 80 foot plunge down a Detroit slide

Tubing, sliding, bumping, and more, all happening this weekend in and around the D

The holidays have come to an end, but wintertime fun is in full effect. Fire and ice, winter tubing, and a giant slide, are all part of the different fun events that are on tap in Metro Detroit this weekend!

First up, on Detroit’s Riverfront, the first of four weekly events kicks off at Valade Park. It’s the “Fire and Ice” festival. The event features axe throwing, ice sculptures, musical acts, flame tossing, family activities, and more. The fest runs Friday through Sunday in Downtown Detroit.

Next up, an event for the little ones in our lives. The “Rock Around the Hawk” party will feature, music, art, fun activities, and more for those 18-months to 5 years old, and their caregivers. This monthly event happens Friday, January 5, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at “The Hawk” on 29995 West 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills.

Whether there’s snow on the ground or not, tubing at “Bowers School Farm” will kick off this weekend. The park features bonfires, animal experiences, a store and kitchen, marshmallow roasting, and of course, the tubing slides which light up at night. The “Winter Park” at Bowers kicks off Friday and runs through February 25 at 1219 East Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills.

Lastly, if you haven’t experienced the winter activities at the “Monroe Street Midway” in Downtown Detroit you have one last weekend to do so this weekend. Visitors can enjoy bumper cars, an arcade, puck-putt, and a 20 foot high, 80 foot long arctic slide. The fun ends on Sunday.
