January is National Walk your Dog Month, and a time when experts want to remind pet parents of the importance of dog walking. Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” to chat with host Tati Amare, about the benefits of walking your dog.
“Walking all year round is very beneficial for you and your pet,” Vesterfelt said. She says physically it can help lower blood pressure, and lower stress, as well increase the bond between pets and their owners. While walking dogs, she says, using a harness can help reduce neck strain.
Vesterfelt brought a very cute 1 1/2 year old grey cat with her named “Captain.” He and other animals at Michigan Humane are in need of a loving home. If you are interested in adopting “Captain”, the Mike Morse Law Firm will pay all adoption fees for whoever adopts todays pet.
