The Detroit Lions have won their first playoff game in 32 years, and fans are enjoying every moment of the victory.
Friends of the show appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about the excitement. Host Tati Amare and guest host Aaron “Goose” Seller were joined by Orlando Bailey who is with Bridge Detroit and the “Authentically Detroit” podcast, along with Local 4 Special Projects Editor Ben Bell who is also a contributor to the Kool-Aid Corner coverage on Local 4+.
Tati started off the conversation by talking about how the crowd at Ford Field booed former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford when he took the field Sunday night to play for the rams. “That’s what had to happen,” Ben said. Orlando said “it’s the nature of the game.” He also mentioned that some people did cheer for Stafford.
Next, the conversation led to who the Lions will be playing in their second game of the playoffs. Sunday’s matchup will either be against the Philadelphia Eagles or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, depending on who wins Monday night. Tati asked which team everyone wants to the Lions to play. Both “Goose” and Ben said they want to see the Lions play the Buccaneers. Meanwhile, Orlando said he’d like the Lions to play the Eagles.
A standout season for the Lions has both new fans and die-hard fans cheering on the team. The group talked about whether it bothers them when fans only cheer for the Lions when they’re winning. Ben said he’s been cheering on the Lions since he was in seventh grade and doesn’t care about other people’s fandom. “I know that I am a die-hard fan. I’ve got a permanent smile on my face today,” he said. “Goose” said if people want to cheer then they should cheer. However, he said he somewhat believes that, “if you can’t take us at our worst, you don’t get us at our best.”
