Cool experiences happening this weekend in and around Detroit

The cold is not stopping the fun

Another winter weekend is almost here, and that means you’ll want to bundle up to venture out and experience what’s happening around the D.

Downtown Rochester will be embracing the frigid temps this weekend for “Frost Fest.” You can check out under the sea themed ice sculptures, watch live ice carvings, play ice corn hole, and warm up while roasting marshmallows. This free fest will fill the streets downtown, Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you want to stay inside, you can feel the love at Vixen’s on Bagley in Detroit. It’s described as a special “Cupid’s corner” that’s filled with Valentine’s Day decorations, and seasonal “love potions” (cocktails) will be served. Vixen’s will be in action through February 17th on Bagley Street in Southwest Detroit.

Get ready for some Motown Magic when you experience winter at Valade Park in Detroit. The entire weekend will be filled with activities. Friday is the All Things Marketplace. Saturday the marketplace continues, plus you can grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks. There will also be face painting, and The Parade Company’s Big Heads will be there. A Lions Tailgate Celebration will run from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Of course, the Lions will play the Buccaneers at Ford Field for their second playoff game. Don’t forget you can watch the game on Local 4. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Sunday.
