If you’re looking for an indoor entertainment option this weekend, there are a couple new movie flicks to check out. Two Academy Award winners are on screen in a new movie based on a familiar story, plus a space thriller takes on the International Space Station. Movie reviewer Greg Russell talked all about them in this weeks Reel Talk.
“May December” is about a teacher who married and started a family with her student. Many may recall this being a “real” news story that dominated several headlines years ago. The film stars Natalie Portman, and Juliana Moore. Russell, who describes the movie as “disturbing,” spoke with their co-star, Charles Melton, who plays the role of the student. Russell gave the movie 4 out of 5 reels due to the great acting.
If you’re looking for an “out of this world” movie experience “I.S.S.” will take you on a thrilling journey. Russell says this fictional film has some interesting twists. “You’ve got an American crew, and Russian crew up in the space station, everyone’s getting along fine, all of a sudden, on Earth, Russia and the U.S. go to war,” Russell explained. He sat down with the cast to discuss the film. “This one thing happens and changes everyone’s stake,” said Ariana DeBose, one of the film’s stars. Russell said this film will pull you right in and you’ll want to see it to the end, he gave it 4 reels.
In honor of the Detroit Lions play off game this Sunday, Russell suggested some classic football inspired films to watch this weekend.
