Comfort food providing comfort in Detroit for a great cause

“Soup City” fundraiser happening Jan 24 at “The Wright”

It’s winter time, a season where many of us enjoy the comforts of “comfort food.” Thanks to a Detroit nonprofit, people will have the chance to enjoy those hearty meals while providing comfort to those in need.

COTS Detroit is an organization that provides resources for families overcoming homelessness, and this week they are holding the “Soup City,” event that will benefit their cause.

Aisha Morrell- Ferguson, chief development officer at COTS, stopped by “Live in the D,” to discuss the fundraiser that’s in its 25th year.

“It’s our signature fundraiser at COTS and supports families that are overcoming poverty and homelessness,” she said. “Everyday we’re creating opportunities for them to succeed.”

Soups will not be the only thing on the menu. There will also be gumbo, smothered turkey legs, red beans and rice, and more.
