Welcoming a baby, with a pet already in your home, can be a challenge, but there are some considerations you should take to make the transition smoother. Lidia Vesterfelt, from Michigan Humane, appeared on “Live in the D” to discuss the best tips on how to prepare your pet for a baby in the home.
Obedience is very important for a dog to have before the baby comes. If not, “Investing in a trainer to make sure they are prepared as possible for when the baby comes,” is one piece of advice Vesterfelt told host Tati Amare and guest-host Aaron Seller, radio host on 102.9 W4 Country. Having a baby doll around is another tip Vesterfelt suggests as it may help your pet train to good behavior as well as help with adjusting to a baby.
Vesterfelt brought in 9 year old cat Chevy who is looking for a forever home that can accommodate two cats because Chevy is bonded to Mustang, another cat at the shelter. For whoever adopts today’s Pet of the Week, the Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fee.
